Summer signings, Pablo Hernandez and Michu, stepped up to the plate as they established a two-goal lead for the hosts midway into the second half.

Speaking to the media after the match, the Dane admitted that the win came as a huge relief for him.
The 48-year old said that the match carried extra significance for them since it allowed the team to rediscover their lost confidence, and praised their calm and patient approach towards the game.
“You can say there is a mixture of joy and relief, we knew today was very important for us and I think if you see the game the players played with a lot of confidence and patience,” he told the reporters.
“You cannot think you can do it in 10 minutes. At this level it takes 90 or 94 minutes and that is what happened.”
Swansea looked the better of the two teams throughout the encounter. In total, they aimed 20 shots at their opponents’ goal as compared to just 11 from the visitors.
Laudrup insisted that the manner of their victory made the result all the more satisfying for him.
He was particularly impressed with the Swans performance in the first half and felt that there were parts in which they completely outplayed the Latics.
“From the first minute of the second half we dominated completely, we did not create loads of chances but we got closer and closer and suddenly it was there,” he added.
Swansea will next visit Eastlands to take on title holders, Manchester City, on Saturday.
