Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, hit out at his team for their slow start against Everton on Saturday, and feels that they need to up their game against Stoke City if they are to avoid more disaster.
The south http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 club were hammered 3-0 at their own backyard by a rampant Toffees side, who simply ran over their opponents in the first half.
Swansea were particularly lacklustre during the opening stages of the game, conceding a handful of free-kicks and also struggled to retain possession of the ball.
Their performance on Saturday was in sharp contrast to their blistering start to the campaign, which saw them record heavy wins against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 (5-0) and West Ham United (3-0).
Instead of forcing their home advantage on the Merseysiders, the Swans were left picking the bones as they were completely outplayed in all departments of the game.
Assessing his team’s performance, the Dane observed that their slow start contributed to their downfall.
He explained that his side does not boast the strongest players in the league physically, and they could only make up for it by their quick passing game.
“It was a surprise, our first 30 minutes. I did not expect that,” he said.
“We played too slow and it was too easy for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 to get the ball back. We have a team, a way of playing where we are not as strong physically as all the other teams so we have to play faster.”
“Maybe then when you try to get the ball back, you commit a foul. I haven't counted how many but I don't think we have ever given away so many free-kicks in the first 10 minutes like we did in this game.”
The manager further added that the Swans need to quickly re-gather themselves after being humbled on Saturday, and that they cannot afford to make the same mistakes against Stoke City in their next match.
The Welsh club will square off against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis’ unit at the Britannia Stadium on the 29th of September.
Currently, Laudrup’s team have got 7 points out of their first 5 league games.
