The Welsh footballer, who was earlier named in the Great Britain squad by the national manager Stuart Pearce, is reportedly under the radar of the Reds boss, Brendan Rodgers.
According to some sources, the Swans believe the player’s worth to be in the region of 15 million pounds, and both the sides are closing in on the deal.
The 22-year old was set to have his contract expire by the end of the 2011/12 season. However, he signed a four year extension on his deal in 2011, offering his services at the Liberty Stadium until 2015.
Since making his senior team debut for Swansea in 2007, Allen has represented the club in 147 games in all competitions and netted 7 goals.
Nevertheless, the Dane conceded that he was unsure about the player’s future destination following interest from the Merseyside club, and felt that his own say in this matter will prove to be the decisive factor.
He told the reporters in an interview, “You have to know always what does the player want. If he says 'No, I want to stay, I'm so happy here,' then he stays. But, of course, if we get a very big offer and the player wants to leave, what means is there to
keep him here?”
The Olympic football competition is set to commence from the 26th of July, when GB will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 in their opening game.
Laudrup also admitted that even though he would love to meet with Allen as soon as possible to discuss the subject of his future at the Liberty Stadium, he will have to wait for the Olympic Games to wind up before that could happen.
“Of course, we can't do it now because he's with the Olympic squad so we'll have to wait. Until now there is nothing concrete but if there does come an important offer then we will have to talk to the player.”
