Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, has called upon his team to bring to an end their current abysmal form, and win their next match against Reading for veteran Leon Britton.
The English International is set to make his 400th appearance for the South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 club on Saturday, as the Swans play host to the newly promoted Royals in an EPL fixture.
Britton is one of the most esteemed players at the Liberty Stadium. After making his debut against Exeter, the 30-year old went on to represent the club at all levels en route to their promotion to the top division of English football.
Now the show is set for the midfielder on Saturday, as it is expected that he will receive a boisterous and tumultuous acknowledgement from the home fans.
Laudrup, who has seen his side succumb to three consecutive defeats following their remarkable start to the season, wants his team to go all out for a win against Reading.
He feels that apart from stopping their rut, the win will also be a fitting tribute for Britton, and the best way to celebrate his 400th appearance for the club.
“He (Britton) is an institution at the football club and there are not many players that play for so long at one club, particularly in the modern era, so it is great,” he told the reporters.
“400 games says a lot. Let's hope we can give him a day to remember by winning the game.”
After dispatching QPR and West Ham United in their opening two games, Laudrup’s team have now failed to record a single point or a goal out of their last three games.
The sharp dip in their performance has raised quite a few questions over their challenge to survive in yet another EPL season.
However, the Dane was not too concerned about what had transpired recently.
Instead, he insisted that there was still a long way to go before the season culminates, and dispelled the notion that it was do-or-die situation for them against Reading.
“After three defeats obviously there is less confidence but it is still only the seventh game in the league, it does not finish after this weekend,” he added.
