Swansea City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup has insisted that his team needs to develop a back-up plan ahead of their new campaign, in order to guarantee their survival in the Premier League.
The Welsh club broke into the top division of English football last season, and impressed everyone with their short passing and possession retaining playing style, which they developed under their former manager, Brendan Rodgers.
Their Barcelona-like approach has already won many admirers in the Premier League, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 having already acquired the services of the Northern Irishman in order to build the same model at Anfield.
However Laudrup, who became the boss at the Liberty Stadium in June, warned his side of going about the things with a single dimensional approach. He revealed that he plans on continuing with the Swans current playing style, but felt that they need to develop
a back-up plan as well, in order to meet the ever changes demands of the English league.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Everyone knows the philosophy at Swansea — we want to keep possession — and that is one thing. But we have to realise that this year Swansea are not the new, up-and-coming team. Now everybody knows Swansea, so we need
alternatives in some games both at home and away.”
Swansea, who were tottering in the Championship at the time when Rodgers took over the club, won the play off final against Reading in May 2011, to become the first club from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 to secure entry into the Premier League.
Despite the club’s weaker infrastructure and limited resources as compared to the big-wigs of the league, they managed to notch up victories against some of the top teams and managed to grab the eleventh spot in the final league standings.
However, with the Swans losing out some of their key players during the summer transfer window and with a new manager at the helm, the Welsh club faces a challenging task of emulating their last season successes this coming term.
However, the Dane unravelled his optimism that his team were capable of making an impact all over again, and pointed out that the arduous http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 of setting up a solid base had already been done.
“We are not starting from scratch. The philosophy is here,” he added.
