Laughing Clown/Man/King in Blackpool... Why was he built? Who designed him....?

Why did they design such a scary robot?

Nearly every child is terrified of the thing, it hardly makes anyone laugh... Who designed it and why?

Does anyone no were you can find any info on it?

Im interested to know... as why the h**l would somebody sit donw and decide to put something so scay in the theme park?

Its strange.....

  1. when it was made loads of theme parks in the UK and carnivals had one i guess u cud just say blackpool is one of the oldest theme parks in the uk and it dosent lose its tradition it used to be outside noah's ark but now is near the avalanche


  2. its possibly the oldest thing on blackpool pleasure beach it was there when i was a kid and i'm 60 this year it never scared me i thought it was just daft

  3. The Laughing Man debuted outside the entrance of the Fun House in 1935,bought on a whim by Leonard Thompson Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach  while Christmas shopping in Galeries Lafayette, Paris

    So we have him to thank for scaring the wits out of us, very hard to find any information re who designed him though!
