Laundy ball advice?

I'm thinking about buying these for my parents... can anyone tell me whether they're scented? Do they leave clothes smelling fresh like washing powder/liquid or do they come out odourless? thanks

we have a couple of hedgehogs that go into our machine.

were very sceptical at first, but after the first wash we were converted.

they cost us a pound for two, lasted about six months before we refilled them, for a pound again, and they do make clothes smell clean and fresh, just like all the powders and tablets you get.

and they're great for holidays because they're so small and easy to pack.

Some are scented, but since you posted your question under green living, I have to warn you that the fragrances and detergents used in commercial cleaners can contain a lot of nasty chemicals. Besides being potentially toxic to your health and the environment, they don't work as advertised and they are expensive; costing anywhere from around $50 to $75 initially, plus refills of the special additives in some cases. In my opinion you and your parents are better off saving your money and making your own homemade laundry detergents out of inexpensive, earth friendly ingredients.

I use the eco balls - no scent.

If they like their whites whiter than white - i wouldnt recommend them, otherwise they seem to work fine.

There are several types of laundry balls...there are plastic ones you fill with softener each load and throw them in with the clothes-so whatever brand softener you use that's the scent you get. The 'other' types of 'laundry balls' (hard material, guarantee to replace soap or last 100 loads or something outrageous) were proven to be a total useless, worthless scam.  Not sure if it was a news program or Consumer Reports but they ran all kinds of tests with them and they failed miserably!  So don't waste your money.
