Laura Crockart captures Women’s 1500m freestyle gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Laura Crockart of Ryde-Carlile captured gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle on day five of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Sunday, September 16.
Crockart demonstrated her mind-blowing efforts in the sixty-lap freestyle discipline. She remained in a prominent lead over her opponents throughout the race and earned her way to the top of medal rostrum for gold medal.
With her relentless efforts, Crockart remained considerably slower from her following swimmer and touched the wall for the crown of the event with a wonderful timing of 16 minutes and 10.41 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kareena Lee of Mountain Creek, who remained 14.19 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for silver medal with a timing of 16 minutes and 24.60 seconds.
Lee was chased by Leah Cutting of Norwood, SA, who stayed almost seven seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as third position holder by reporting an effort of 16 minutes and 31.12 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Erin Killey of Hunter, NSW, who remained almost five seconds behind and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by producing an effort of 16 minutes and 36.00 seconds.
Killey was traced by Samantha Watts of Blacktown City, who was 19.93 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and hit the wall with an effort of 16 minutes and 55.93 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth best position of the event was secured by Grace Hull of Breakers, WA, who remained prominently slower from her former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 17 minutes and 02.14 seconds.
Hull enjoyed a benefit of Justine Spurr of South Shore, WA, who stayed 3.45 seconds behind and clocked a time of 17 minutes and 05.59 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Sacha Downing of UWA Uniswim, who remained considerably slower from her former finisher and clocked a time of 17 minutes and 21.31 seconds.
In addition, Crockart was contented with her victory in the 1500m discipline and raked medal after the race.
