Laura Davies looking forward for sixth appearance in Dubai
Laura Davies is a professional golfer who has grossed over 3 million Euros on the Ladies European Tour. The woman who hails from England has the reputation of being the leading golfer of England.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters takes place in the city of Dubai, UAE, and the Englishwoman is all packed and ready for her sixth appearance in the tournament.
Davies has yet to win the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Tournament for the first time. The Dubai-based tournament was not a successful one for Davies, as she stumbled and gave one of her worst performances in 2011.
During the tournament, she missed the cut and went 12 over par. However, this year, the veteran is confident about her game.
While speaking about the Dubai course and how she enjoys playing on it, Davies said, "I love Dubai. I love the tournament. The (Majlis) course is one of my favorites, so playing there is really special for me".
Davies has had one of the most remarkable careers on the Ladies circuit. She has amassed a total of 45 tournament wins on the Ladies European Tour, out of the 289 that she has played.
The Englishwoman is a consistent performer because she has 95 top-ten finishes on the LET Tour. The nerves and experience of the 49-year-old professional will be tested by the top players of the tournament.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters defending champion, Alexis Thompson, stole all the attention in 2011, when she became the second youngest player on the LET to win a tournament.
Laura Davies is also one of the ambassadors for the Dubai-based tournament. In a recent interview, she expressed how the people she is representing really help promote golf and also support the players who travel all the way to UAE in order to play the sport.
While speaking about how she loves to be a part of ‘golf in Dubai’, the 49-year-old Englishwoman said,
"It feels great to be part of the 'golf in Dubai' team who runs the tournament so professionally. They're lovely people and look after us so well. It’s really an honor to be one of their ambassadors".
The CEO of ‘golf in Dubai’, Mohamed Juma Buamaim, also spoke about how proud he is to have an experienced and extraordinary player like Davies represent his event.
The Vice Chairman of the sporting event believes that he is quite fortunate to have a figure like her as the ambassador and wished her the very best for the upcoming event.
"We are fortunate to have such a phenomenal player as one of our ambassadors. Her presence, I am sure, will again ensure large attendance figures across the tournament. I wish her the very best".
