Laura Davies plays a remarkable third round - Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
Laura Davies scored 71 in the first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. According to her standards, the score she carded on the first round was nothing to make a fuss about.
Davies came out on the second day to improve her position on the leaderboard and with that she made her first birdie on the third hole.
What seemed to be a good start for the Englishwoman, Davies followed the birdie with a bogey. She then continued with her unpleasant stroke play and went on to card two more bogeys on the front-nine.
She struck a birdie on the 13th hole but followed it up with another bogey.
When it seemed like all hope had gone and the second round was over for the Englishwoman, Davies rose up to the occasion and carded three spectacular birdies in a row.
Her performance in the second round had put Davies on the 28th position on the leaderboard.
Starting the third round, the Englishwoman displayed a high standard of golf and joined the top-ten on the leaderboard.
During her third round, the seasoned Englishwoman made seven birdies, the front-nine of her third round saw three birdies on the 2nd, 3rd and the 5th hole. She carded a score of 32 on the front-nine.
The second half of the third round was a delight to watch as the veteran golf professional played magnificently.
She registered a birdie on the 10th hole, the next hole for the Englishwoman went par. Two more birdies were shot by Davies on the back-nine.
She faltered slightly on the 14th hole but made up for it with another birdie on the 16th. With that a successful round for the Englishwoman came to an end.
Davies is the ambassador of golf in Dubai and there are immense expectations from her. Her performance in the past few tournaments have not been up to the mark.
The pioneer of women’s golf in the U.K. Davies has to show her experience on the field. However, it has been witnessed in the past that the Englishwoman has made some remarkable comebacks.
Shanshan Feng currently leads the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters with a five-shot advantage over the second place contender.
