Laura Davies set to embark on Legends Tour
English Laura Davies, who is one of the few veterans on both the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) and LET (Ladies European Tour), is in the news once again as she is set to embark on the Legends Tour by making her debut at the ISPS Handa Legends Tour Open Championship.
The ISPS Handa Legends Tour Open Championship is scheduled to start from November 9-11 at Innisbrook, Florida, United States.
The two-round tournament will see the participation of several veterans from the PGA (Professional Golf Association), LPGA and LET, with Davies being regarded as a much-wanted addition to the already-stunning field.
Some of the key contenders confirmed to play the event include Donna Andrews, Jane Blalock, Pat Bradley, Donna Caponi, Joanne Carner, Dawn Coe-Jones, Jane Crafter, Elaine Crosby, Beth Daniel, Alicia Dibos, Judy Dickinson, Cindy Figg-Currier, Allison Finney, Gail Graham, Shelley Hamlin, Christa Johnson, Rosie Jones, Lorie Kane and Sally Little.
In addition, the defending champion Michele Redman is also in the roster, making the event much more exciting than the last year.
Last year, Redman displayed a superb performance as she posted an overall 142 to grab a two-stroke victory against Rosie Jones. The defending champion shot a 72 and 70 in the first and final round.
Officials and fans have welcomed the confirmation from Davies to join the field as they said that the British star is fully capable of beating competitors.
Legends Tour President and CEO, Jane Blalock, who is also in the field, said that the participation of Davies will ensure an interesting and tough competition.
“Laura Davies is, without question, one of the biggest draws in all of golf and her dynamic style of play will be such a welcome addition to The Legends Tour this year,” Blalock said.
The CEO further said that the officials and players are sure that Davies will share her good-fellowship with the rest of the field. “I’m sure she is looking forward to sharing the camaraderie and competition with many of her longtime LPGA peers and I also know that Laura will be warmly welcomed by all”.
Currently, Davies is in South Korea to take part in the LPGA Hana Bank Championship set to start from October 19, at Incheon.
