Laura Davies set to take part in Evian Masters 2012
English Laura Davies, who won the two editions of the Evian Masters in 1995 and 1996, has made it to the roster for the coming edition of the prestigious tournament, set to be held from July 26-29, at Evian-les-Bains, France.
Davies is one of the most experienced players in the Evian Masters 2012 field, and she is regarded as a hot favourite for the coveted title.
The English star is likely to cheer fans on the course, as she has vast experience, however, it will not be easy for her to repeat the past performance in a field loaded with plenty of big names like Paula Creamer, current world number one Yani Tseng and Stacy Lewis.
Although Davies mostly plays on the LET (Ladies European Tour), she has also proved her mettle on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournaments. Having grabbed 20 titles on the LPGA, the 48-year-old golfer is ready to add yet another triumph to her solid profile.
Ever since the Evian Masters came under the banner of the LPGA Tour, the competition has intensified, with a number of new faces having emerged to challenge the veterans.
Despite the new development in the tournament, Davies has been taking part in it with the same rigour and motivation.
Analysts said that the coming battle in France is expected to see a dramatic result, as there are plenty of contenders who are regarded as hot favourite for the title. For instance, South Korean Na Yeon Choi stunned the golf world a few days back when she racked up her maiden major title at the US Women’s Open 2012. Choi can give a tough time to her rivals.
Now that the field has been set, and will enter the course this week, the only thing that can help players like Davies do their best is sticking to their work ethic. With a solid record on both the LET and the LPGA Tour, the English star can give her rivals a run for their money.
Analysts said that Davies will not only have to keep her reputation intact in France, but she will also have to keep a close eye on Asian rivals. As the tournament is being played in Europe, it has become crucial for the region’s players to put their best feet forward and regain their lost glory.
