Laura Enever shines in heat one of second round: Day one of Billabong Rio Pro
Laura Enever of Australia picked up the top seed in heat one of the second round with the fastest score of 14.40 at the end of day one of the Billabong Rio Pro Competition in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
“I’ve been pretty nervous lately, I’ve had three 13ths before coming here and I started with a 3rd at Snapper so my heart was definitely pounding at the end. Claire (Bevilacqua) had that 7.6 and could have easily gotten a 6 so I just tried to breathe. I’m
glad I got that 8 at the start,” said Enever.
Meanwhile, Claire Bevilacqua of Australia took the second place in the corresponding heat with a total score of 12.60.
On the other hand, Pauline Ado of France snared first spot in heat two with a total score of 11.03 out of 20, while Felicity Palmateer of Australia wound up second with a total score of 8.00.
Ado felt a huge sigh of relief after clinching the first spot in the women’s second heat at Barra da Tijuca.
In the 3rd heat, Coco Ho captured the first place with a fabulous score of 14.94 and Maya Gabeira of Brazil wound up second with 4.17 points.
“I had kind of a tough start this morning and was out of rhythm so I was going in to my Round 2 heat kind of down. I got a slow start in Round 2 as well and was worried that my bad rhythm was continuing, but I eventually found my feet and finished my waves,”
said Ho.
In the meantime, the 4th heat was taken over by Courtney Conlogue of the United States of America with a captivating score of 13.44 out of 20 while Andrea Lopes of Brazil rounded off the top two with a 8.17.
In the 5th heat, Paige Hareb of New Zealand came first with a sterling score of 10.33, while Suelen Naraisa of Brazil came second with a total score of 5.96.
Lastly, Alana Blanchard grabbed the first spot in the 6th heat with the fastest score of 13.10 and Jessi Miley-Dyer of Australia wound up second with a total score of 8.70.
