Laura Letrari conquers Women’s 200m IM title: 2011 Nico Sapio Trophy, Genova
Day one of the 2011 Nico Sapio Trophy saw several impressive swims in Genova, Italy, on Tuesday, November 1. Laura Letrari of Italy went on to clinch the Women’s 200m Individual Medley title, while Camille Muffat of France claimed Women’s 400m freestyle
crown. Moreover, Yannick Agnel of France grabbed Men’s 400m freestyle title.
Initially, Letrari knocked out two Italian athletes, Giulia De Ascentis and Luisa Trombetti by hitting the finishing wall in a nerve wrecking time of 2 minutes and 13.14 seconds. Meanwhile, De Ascentis pocketed silver medal in a spot of 2 minutes and 15.39
seconds and Trombetti settled at third place in a time of 2 minutes and 17.24 seconds.
In addition, Francesca Fangio of Italy picked fourth position by hitting the finishing wall in an impressive time of 2 minutes and 18.21 seconds and Beatrice Fassone of Italy settled for fifth position in a spot of 2 minutes and 18.45 seconds. In the meantime,
Ludovica Leoni of Italy performed well in the respective race and earned sixth position by touching the finishing wall in a blot of 2 minutes and 18.55 seconds.
Alice Barbieri of Italy also reached at top eighth positions and finished seventh by touching the finishing wall in a time of 2 minutes and 18.72 seconds. Last, but not the least, Silvia Meschiari of Italy settled at eighth place by submitting a time of
2 minutes and 18.82 seconds.
Additionally, the Women’s 400m freestyle title was clinched by France's Camille Muffat in a thrilling time of 4 minutes and 00.86 seconds. That swim moved her to top-five places in the current rankings of world swimming. Heemskerk earned silver medal in
the respective race by touching the finishing wall in a time of 4 minutes and 03.82 seconds, while Ioppi won bronze title in a mark of 4 minutes and 08.69 seconds.
Moreover, France’s Yannick Agnel took home Men’s 400m freestyle title in a record breaking mark of 3 minutes and 42.95 seconds. That swim elevated him to top-three places in the current rankings of world swimming. Italy's Alex Di Giorgio pocketed silver
medal in a blot of 3 minutes and 45.03 seconds, while Rocco Potenza settled for bronze title in 3 minutes and 45.29 seconds.
