Laura Robson knocks-out Anna Floris in the second round qualifiers – Australian Open 2012
Gorgeous Briton teenager, Laura Robson, ousted the Italian veteran, Anna Floris, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 during the second qualifying rounds of the Australian Open tournament on Friday. Melbourne sporting arena was filled with
loads of viewers that came across to witness the young talented Robson in action. She is definitely the women Great Britain can be proud off, as she is flying her nation’s flag high up.
It was a completely one-sided show, with Robson stunning everyone with her technique and ability to flabbergast the veteran opponent. She was extremely quick with her footwork and her breathtaking returns were a treat to watch.
Floris looked a bit rusty and the aging factor seemed to have played its part, as her movement was pretty limited that was completely uncharacteristic.
Exciting start to the match witnessed both players trading serve breaks in the first two games of the match. It was interesting to see that Robson had learnt the traits of handling pressure at such young age. The 17-years-old performer
was completely on top of her opponent and Floris seemed to have buried under the load of a surprising package she witnessed in the form of Robson.
Both players hung on to their serves for the next five games as the scores were pushed to 4-3 in favour of the teenager with her opponent to serve the next game. The undue pressure played its part and Floris stumbled in the eighth
game of the first set that helped the teenager to bag another breakpoint. She made no mistake in capitalizing on the breakthrough and won the next serve game to pocket the first set.
Second set started slowly, with both players holding their serves in the first two, followed by a series of three successive serve breaks. Finally a successful serve game for the Italian helped her to level the scores at 3-3 but
she was not allowed a lot of time to settle down as her opponent broke serve in the next game to take a lead. It was the pivotal point of the set and proved enough for the teenager to move into the next round in dashing fashion.
