Laura Robson unleashes her off-court obsession about darts – Tennis News
Briton booming starlet, Laura Robson, unfolded her off-court obsessions, the love of playing darts and watching that regularly throughout her life. Apart from playing tennis, she practices darts in her leisure time; although
she is very terrible in pinpoint accuracy, she still likes to adhere to her non-core sport.
Talking about darts players and the aspect of game that fascinates her most, she stated, “You can learn a lot from a darts player. I just like watching and, though I know this sounds a bit mean, I particularly like watching
when they choke. It sounds horrible but it just makes it that much more exciting.” It is good to see that young players are not completely obsessed in achieving high standards in one game. They are also looking around finding motivation from other sports that
always bring versatility to your play and a whole different approach to the game.
Robson likes darts for many reasons and the first and foremost is the manner darts player handles the pressure and shoots the dart with pinpoint accuracy. Sometimes they do shake a bit but then they control themselves and
the screams of fans can’t distract their concentration. She wants the same level of courage and ability to absorb pressure at elite levels and perform against big guns with utmost concentration.
The Briton further added, “Dealing with that pressure, I think, is something that comes with experience. I’ve had some horrible matches in the last few years when I’ve been leading and then lost concentration. But it’s definitely
something that’s improving.”
The teenager is very excited at the appointment of her new captain, Judy Murray and believes that she is such an individual that will never give up on any stage, no matter whatever happens on the courts. She is a true fighter
and ignites the same enthusiasm amongst her students. In a very short period of time, she has enhanced the game style and skill level of several players that is absolutely incredible.
She started her new season at the Australian Open qualifiers and defeating all her rivals to make it to the main round of the year’s first Grand Slam tournament. Unfortunately, her first draw was against the former world
number one, Jelena Jankovic and she was knocked out winning just two games in the match. She is just 18-years-old and she is definitely going to create a name for her in coming years provided she grows her talent with continuous practice.
