Laura Sogar claims Women’s 200 yards breaststroke gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Laura Sogar of UT-ST claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200 yards breaststroke on third day of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Saturday, December 1.
Sogar smothered hopes of her opponents in the distant breaststroke discipline as she remained in a comfortable lead over her challengers and reached the wall for gold medal.
With her impressive pace, Sogar remained more than two body lengths ahead of her closest swimmer and reached the wall for gold medal with a fascinating timing of 2 minutes and 05.39 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Andrea Kropp of USC-CA, who was2.23 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for silver medal with a nice timing of 2 minutes and 07.62 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Jessica Schmitt of USC-CA, who remained 2.16 seconds slower and tapped the wall with a fantastic effort of 2 minutes and 09.78 seconds.
Subsequently, Schmitt was trailed by Chelsey Salli of ZONAAZ, who stayed one and a half body length slower from her foregoing finisher and reached the wall for fourth position with a timing of 2 minutes and 11.23 seconds.
Salli was traced by Kasey Carlson of USC-CA, who was only an inch slower from upsetting her and concluded her race in fifth place by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 11.57 seconds.
Carlson was traced by Meghan Hawthorne of USC-CA, who was 0.41 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.98 seconds.
Hawthorne was chased by Emma Schoettmer of ZONAAZ, who stayed 0.51 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.49 seconds.
Schoettmer was chased by Ellyn Baumgardner of ZONAAZ, who was 0.15 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 12.64 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, Sogar expressed happiness over her gold claiming effort in the breaststroke discipline and articulated her desire of making her fans happy by acquiring the title of the same event at forthcoming swimming competitions.
