Laura Sogar earns Women’s 100 yards breaststroke gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Laura Sogar of UT-ST earned gold medal of the Women’s 100 yards breaststroke on day two of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Friday, November 30.
Sogar crushed hopes of her opponents in the breaststroke discipline, as she went full rampant and occupied the title.
With her alluring efforts in the race, Sogar remained prominently ahead of her challengers and transpired on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 58.32 seconds.
Her effort not only placed her on top of the podium bust she also improved the championship record of Jessica Hardy, who posted 58.41 seconds to capture the title of same event in 2010.
The gold medallist was followed by Ellyn Baumgardner of ZONAAZ, who stayed 0.54 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 58.86 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Jessica Hardy of TROJCA, who was 0.03 second slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 58.89 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Kasey Carlson of USC-CA, who was 0.21 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 59.10 seconds.
Carlson was followed by Catherine Meili of COL-MR, who was 0.55 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 59.65 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Jillian Tyler of UN02MN, who stayed 0.34 seconds apart and reached the wall with an effort of 59.99 seconds.
Tyler was followed by Chelsey Salli of ZONAAZ, who was just 0.28 seconds slower and concluded her swim in seventh place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 00.27 seconds.
Salli was followed by Andrea Kropp of USC-CA, who was full body length behind and failed to overpower any of her opponents, finishing eighth in the race with the timing of 1 minute and 01.30 seconds.
In addition, Sogar was overjoyed with her gruelling form and collected medal and accolade at the prize ceremony of the event.
