Laura Sogar occupies Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – US Open Swimming Championships
Laura Sogar of Bluefish Swim Club occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on day two of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 8.
The 21-year-old Sogar experienced strong resistance from her foregoing finishers throughout the event but with her invincible efforts, she managed to make her way to the finishing end for gold medal.
With her immaculate pace, she remained one stroke ahead of her closest swimmer and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 25.15 seconds.
Her alluring effort was trailed by Andrea Kropp of Rattler Swim Club, who stayed 0.25 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 25.40 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Emily McClellan of J-Hawk Aquatic Club, who stayed 2.09 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and reached the medal rostrum for bronze medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 27.49 seconds.
McClellan was followed by Haley Spencer of Minnesota Aquatics, who stayed almost 0.80 seconds apart and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 28.28 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Molly Renshaw of Great Britain, who stayed two and a half body lengths behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 30.92 seconds.
Subsequently, Renshaw was chased by Anne Lazor of Birmingham-Bloomfield Atlantis, who stayed 0.29 seconds slower and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 31.21 seconds for sixth position.
Lazor was chased by Melanie Margalis of Saint Petersburg, who stayed only 0.04 seconds slower and tapped the wall for seventh position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 31.25 seconds.
Eighth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Aisling Scott of Australia, who remained considerably slower from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 33.39 seconds.
Sogar received huge appreciation from the audience for her gruelling form in the race while she expressed happiness over her victory at the medal ceremony of the event.
