Laura Sojo recorded top-five finish at the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship
Laura Sojo of Columbia carded a one-under par 70, in the final round of the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, to record a top-five finish, on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
The Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship was split into two divisions – the girls division and the boys division.
The girls division featured 33 amateurs, while the boys division showcased a total of 61 players from different parts of the world.
In boys division, Patrick Kelly came out of the field as the victory, after he posted a sparkling 19-under par tournament score.
The girls section witnessed Maria Torres recording a one-stroke victory over Nicole Morales, after she posted a four-over par tournament score.
Sojo, in the meantime, accumulated a seven-over par four-round score, to finish tied for the fourth position on the leaderboard.
The Columbian marked a decent start to her campaign at the Biltmore Golf Course by carding two birdies on the front nine of the course on day one.
Thereafter, she lost control over her game for the next 27 holes that she played. She bogeyed five of the last nine holes on day one to finish with a three-over par 74.
During the second round, she reached the turn in three over, thanks to bogeys on the fourth, fifth and the seventh hole.
The back nine of the course witnessed her conceding three bogeys and a double bogey against just a lone birdie. At the end of the day, she found herself accumulating a seven-over par 78.
She then made a good comeback by carding three birdies on the first 11 holes that she played on day three. Once again, she made a mistake on the 13th hole and conceded another bogey of the tournament.
Entering the final round, she was sharing the seventh position on the leaderboard with an eight-over par overall score.
She then bogeyed the seventh and the eighth hole, against a lone birdie that came on the sixth hole, to reach the turn in one over.
The back nine of the course witnessed her making a strong charge on the leaderboard, by securing three shots, while losing a single stroke. As a result, she comfortably recorded a top-five finish in the tournament.
