Lauren Boyle captures Women’s 100m freestyle gold – 2013 NZ Open Championships
Lauren Boyle of North Shore Swimming captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on third day of the 2013 NZ Open Championships in Westwave Aquatic Centre, Auckland, on Tuesday, March 19.
Boyle showed no mercy to her opponents in the 100m discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for first position. With her notable pace, she remained in a prominent lead over her toughest swimmer and hit the wall for first position.
She enjoyed a half body length lead over her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end for first position with the timing of 55.75 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Tash Hind of Capital Swim Club, who stayed 0.56 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal with the timing of 56.31 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Hayley Palmer of North Shore Swimming, who was 0.21 seconds behind and surfaced o the finishing end for third position with the timing of 56.52 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was secured by Samantha Richter of North Shore Swimming and Samantha Lucie-Smith of Capital Swim Club, who engaged each other in a neck-to-neck race. Both swimmers tried hard to overpower each other over the finishing end
and concluded her swim in a time of 56.55 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Samantha Lee of Capital Swim Club, who stayed 0.57 seconds slower and made her way towards the finishing end with an effort of 57.12 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Gabrielle Fa’amausili of Laser Mt Eden Swimming Club, who was 0.60 seconds behind and hit the wall with the event of 57.72 seconds.
Eighth fastest spot of the event was secured by Tracy Keith-Matchitt of St Peter’s Swimming Club, who was almost full body length behind and concluded her race in eighth place by posting an effort of 58.66 seconds.
In addition, Boyle was extremely content with her top finish in the race and received medals and accolades for her gruelling form at the prize ceremony of the race.
