Lauren Boyle clinches Women’s 400m freestyle crown: Day two – 2011 World University Games
Day two of the 2011 World University Games saw the impressive splash of New Zealand’s Lauren Boyle in Shenzhen, China, on Monday, August 15. The final session conducted the Women’s 400m freestyle final, in which Lauren Boyle of New Zealand took home the
golden crown by posting a scintillating time of 4 minutes and 07.78 seconds.
After the race, Boyle was really happy and pleased with her individual splash in the competition. Boyle won the silver medal in the Women’s 4x200m freestyle meet at the 2010 edition of the Commonwealth Games, in Delhi. In the corresponding race, she grabbed
the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, in Melbourne. Moreover, Lauren snared two gold medals in the Women’s 400m and 800m freestyle finals at the 2011 Summer Universiade games, in Shenzhen.
Meanwhile, Melania Costa Schmid of Spain snagged silver medal of the meet by posting a stunning time of 4 minutes and 07.97 seconds, while Stephanie Peacock of United States took home the bronze medal by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 10.25
seconds. Alyssa Anderson of United Sates earned fourth place honours in a time of 4 minutes and 10.49 seconds. Afterwards, Martina Memme De wound up fifth in the respective meet as she touched the finishing wall to post a time of 4 minutes and 14.01 seconds.
Subsequently, Meredith Budner of Israel was placed sixth in a time of 4 minutes and 14.96 seconds. In the meantime, Nassif Katya Bachrouche of Libya wound up seventh on the stage by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 15.06 seconds. Joerdis Steinegger was
placed eighth after she ended her swim in a time of 4 minutes and 15.46 seconds.
Earlier, Yi Tang won the Women’s 100m freestyle title of the meet by posting a fastest time of 54.24 seconds. Darya Stepanyuk of Ukraine was placed second on the podium with an impressive time of 55.32 seconds, while Megan Romano of United Stated of America
finished third as she touched the wall in a time of 55.38 seconds.
