Lauren Boyle earns Men’s 100m freestyle gold – 2013 NZ Open Championships
Lauren Boyle of North Shore Swimming earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on third day of the 2013 NZ Open Championships in Westwave Aquatic Centre, Auckland, on Wednesday, March 20.
Boyle devastated hopes of her opponents in the double lap event and proved her mettle for first position. With her astonishing pace, she gained a considerable lead over her challenger and emerged on the wall for gold medal.
She stayed in a prominent lead over her closest competitor and emerged on the finishing end for first position with the timing of 55.75 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Tash Hind of Capital Swim Club, who stayed half body length slower from her preceding swimmer and posted an effort of 56.31 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was followed by Hayley Palmer of North Shore Swimming, who was slightly slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 56.52 seconds.
The third fastest swimmer was followed by Samantha Ritcher of North Shore Swimming and Samantha Lucie-Smith of Capital Swim Club, who remain engaged in a stroke-to-stroke battle from the start. Both swimmers showered their expertise in the 100m race but
failed to escape each other over the finishing end as they stayed 0.03 seconds by producing a time of 56.55 seconds for fourth place.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Samantha Lee of Capital Swim Club, who was prominently slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.12 seconds.
Lee was traced by Gabrielle Fa’Amausili of Laser Mt Eden Swimming Club, who was considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the wall with the timing of 57.72 seconds for seventh place.
Last position of the race was obtained by Tracy Keith-Matchitt of St Peter’s Swimming Academy, who surfaced on the wall for eighth position by submitting a time of 58.66 seconds.
In addition, Boyle received a huge round of applause from the audience for her scintillating form while the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament after the session.
