Lauren Boyle earns Women’s 1500m freestyle gold – 2013 NZ Open Championships
Lauren Boyle of North Shore Swimming earned gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle on second day of the 2013 NZ Open Championships in Westwave Aquatic Centre, Auckland, on Monday, March 18.
The 25-year-old Boyle continued her winning streak on day two of the event, showed no mercy to her opponents and tapped the wall for first position. With her astonishing pace, Boyle enjoyed a considerable lead over her toughest challenger and secured the
title.
Boyle remained prominently ahead of her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end for first position with the timing of 16 minutes and 16.83 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Emma Robinson of Capital Swim Club, who was nearly 21 seconds slower and touched the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 16 minutes and 37.30 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Tabitha Baumann of North Shore Swimming, who stayed almost nine seconds slower and secured third fastest spot of the race with the timing of 16 minutes and 46.83 seconds.
Baumann remained nearly 12 seconds ahead of Bonnie MacDonald of Tss Aquatic, who failed to secure her spot on the podium and finished fourth in the race with the timing of 16 minutes and 58.11 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Charlotte Webby of Aquabladz Taranaki Swim Club, who stayed almost six seconds behind and touched the wall with an effort of 17 minutes and 04.00 seconds.
Similarly, Webby was chased by Grace Sommerville of Ashburton Swim Team, who was nearly 17 seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 17 minutes and 21.23 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by Jessica Marston of West Auckland Aquatics, who stayed prominently slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 17 minutes and 42.71 seconds.
Last spot of the event was secured by Rachel Smith of Coast Swim Club, who stayed 2.11 seconds apart and posted an effort of 17 minutes and 44.82 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders collected medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
