Lauren Boyle seizes Women’s 800m freestyle gold – 2013 NZ Open Championships
Lauren Boyle of North Shore Swimming seized gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on third day of the 2013 NZ Open Championships in Westwave Aquatic Centre, Auckland, on Tuesday, March 19.
Boyle remained undisputed in the distant freestyle discipline as she overpowered her opponents from the start. With her invincible efforts, she managed to stayed considerably ahead of her strongest swimmer and secure the title.
Boyle enjoyed a lead of more than half pool length from her following swimmer and grabbed the title with an effort of 8 minutes and 23.11 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Emma Robinson of Capital Swim Club, who stayed nearly 19 seconds slower and clocked a time of 8 minutes and 23.11 seconds.
The second best finisher was traced by Bonnie Macdonald of Tss Aquatic, who stayed 3.19 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for third position with an effort of 8 minutes and 45.20 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Tabitha Baumann of North Shore Swimming, who stayed 4.73 seconds slower and clocked a time of 8 minutes and 49.93 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Monique King of North Shore Swimming, who was nearly five seconds behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 54.60 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Charlotte Webby of Aquabladz Taranaki Swim Club, who was considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 02.77 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Jessica Marston of West Auckland Aquatics, who was almost eight seconds behind and posted a time of 9 minutes and 10.01 seconds.
Eighth spot of the race was obtained by Grace Sommerville of Ashburton Swim Team, who failed to upset any of her opponent and surfaced on the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 10.53 seconds.
In addition, Boyle received a huge round of applause from the audience for her scintillating form and received medals at the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.
