Lauren Boyle wins Women’s 200m freestyle gold – 2013 NZ Open Championships
Lauren Boyle of North Shore Swimming won gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on second day of the 2013 NZ Open Championships in Westwave Aquatic Centre, Auckland, on Tuesday, March 19.
The 25-year-odl Boyle remained undisputed in the four-lap discipline and transpired on the finishing end for first position. She faced tough contest from her toughest challenger but managed to ascend on the podium for first position.
With her astonishing pace, she remained 0.99 seconds ahead of her toughest challenger and tapped the wall for first position with the timing of 1 minute and 58.54 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Samantha Lucie-Smith of Capital Swim Club, who stayed full body length behind and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.53 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was traced by Tash Hind of Capital Swim club, who surfaced on the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.88 seconds.
The third best finisher was followed by Samantha Lee of Capital Swim Club, who was nearly three seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth position with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.16 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Emma Robinson of Capital Swim Club, who was 1.26 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 03.42 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Kate Godfrey of Neptune Swimming Club, who remained two and a half body lengths behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.79 seconds.
Godfrey was trailed by Chloe Francis of North Shore Swimming, who was half a body length behind and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 06.14 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Carina Doyle of Waves Swimming Club, who stayed 0.79 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing 2 minutes and 06.93 seconds.
Furthermore, Boyle received huge round of applause from the audience for her commendable pace and collected medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
