Lauren Powley selected as new field hockey assistant at Stevens Institute of Technology: Hockey News
Emily Beach, the first-year head coach has announced that Mountaintop Pennsylvania based, Lauren Powley has agreed to provide her services as a new field hockey assistant at the Stevens Institute of Technology.
Lauren Powley, a graduate of the University of Maryland (College Park) has played in the United States national hockey team for almost five years and also supported and led the Terrapins in NCAA Division I Championship.
“I am thrilled to be able to announce the hiring of Lauren Powley. She brings with her a wealth of playing and coaching experience and will make an immediate impact on our programme,” Emily Beach, the head coach stated her views on the appointment of Lauren
Powley as new field hockey assistant.
During her international career, Powley has represented USA in the field of hockey in a number of prestigious events of international repute. She has remained an integral part of national field hockey team in 2006 World Cup and 2008 Beijing Olympics. Besides
that she also played in 2007 Pan-American games and 2005 Junior World Cup. Recently she was in Netherlands, playing for the Hurley Club and also coaching three young teams along with one Under-18 women team.
Lauren Powley is also a co-founder of Kapow Field Hockey, which not only conducted tournaments and camps, but also provided the initial stages hockey to a number of best players along with an addition in the form of an indoor hockey club in Northern Pennsylvania.
She has also taken the responsibilities of management and administration of this project.
Lauren Powley has also some experience in the field of coaching as she been the student assistant coach for Terrapins in 2006, where she had assigned the duties of practice preparation, game-planning, travel schedules and all daily activities regarding the
sport and her coaching. She had also given the coaching assistance to Advanced Play Field Hockey Camps during the completion of her degree in Kinesiology.
“I am extremely excited to put to use the knowledge and experiences I have gained through competing at the collegiate and international level for the past ten years. Stevens has all of the resources and support to continue developing a programme that will
remain successful for years to come,” the newly appointed field hockey assistant, Lauren Powley made her views on her appointment.
Lauren Powley will keep herself in touch with all of the programme features regarding the planning, practice and implementation along with some additional responsibilities like video work, scouting travelling and recruitment.
