Lauren Smart pockets Women’s 200m backstroke gold – Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Lauren H Smart of Arizona-AZ pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 22-year-old Smart served notice of her talent by dominating the playoff of the distant backstroke event. With her relentless efforts, she devastated hopes of her opponents and stepped on the victory stand for gold medal.
She remained prominent for the gold spot throughout the event and appeared on the finishing end for the crown of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.14 seconds.
With her unrelenting efforts, she enjoyed a benefit of 1.58 seconds over Kallie J Golden of ASU-AZ, who posted a time of 2 minutes and 22.72 seconds for second position.
The silver medallist was followed by Maggie J Meyer of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who was just 0.40 seconds apart and ended up her swim in third best place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 23.12 seconds.
Meyer was chased by Chloe D Isleta of Santa Clara-PC, who suffered a deficit of just one second and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 24.12 seconds for fourth position.
Her commendable efforts placed her in a lead of 0.15 seconds over Sarah A Denninghoff of Arizona-AZ, who acquired fifth best position of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 24.27 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Erin R Campbell of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who cruised her way towards the finishing end by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 26.22 seconds.
The 24-year-old Campbell was trailed by Lizzy G Luttrell of ASU-AZ, who touched the finishing end for seventh best position of the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 27.73 seconds.
Luttrell was followed by her team-member, Mattie A Kukors, who failed to overpower any of her challengers and settled on the finishing end for eighth position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 28.82 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all listed events while the arena acknowledged gruelling efforts of all participants in the 200m discipline.
