Laurens Ten Dam unhappy with his team's performance at USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Ten Dam is currently racing at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge as he is not satisfied with his team’s performance and believes that team Rabobank has to target stage wins in the ongoing tour.
He said, “We are not satisfied yet, I think we have to go for stage wins now.” He further added that the coming stages are ideal for a sprinter but unfortunately team Rabobank is riding without a sprinter and will try to attack the breakaways and Dam is
positive that his team’s performance will be improved in the coming stages.
Ten Dam, who crashed out of Tour de France at stage 15 as he was involved in one of the most disastrous crashes during Tour de France 2011. He was truly brave enough to finish the race with his bleeding nose and face covered with bandages following a crash
at the Col d’Agnes.
Right after the stage he commented via Twitter about his condition as he wrote, “I’m ok so far. NO fractures. Only fracture scars. Will see tomorrow if a start is possible. Thanks for all the support.”
After a disastrous Tour de France 2010 Dam managed to secure few wins including his sixth position at the Amgen Tour of California, eighth overall at the Tour of Suisse followed by a fifth overall position at the Tour Down Under.
Robert Gesink and Stef Clement represented the team Rabobank for the general classifications at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and Gesink is currently at fifth position after the overall general classifications. Ten Dam is currently looking forward to the
Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec in Canada starting from September 11 which suits his style of cycling and he is expecting to pull out some good performances from the event as he mentioned, “I think Colorado was a good preparation for the races in Canada. I would
like to do well there and score some points. They are a goal for me.”
The 31-year-old mentioned that he was in a perfect shape before the Tour de France as he was at the 49th position after the stage 14 general classification and it will be interesting to see how he approached the coming stages of USA Pro Cycling
Challenge in Colorado and the Prix Cycliste in Canada.
