French Football Federation has revealed that Laurent Blanc has stepped down as coach of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 after failing to reach an agreement on a new two-year contract.
Blanc, who took charge of the national side following the woeful 2010 World Cup campaign where Les Bleus were eliminated from the very first round, led France to the knock-out stages of Euro 2012.
Laurent Blanc’s side were eliminated from the European championship at the hands of eventual champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and reports of unrest within the squad erupted after that.
The former Manchester United man had been offered a new two-year contract but he decided not to renew his contract and opted to walk away. According to reports, Blanc was asked to reduce his coaching staff but he refused that, which led to his walking away
from the post.
While talking to reporters, Blanc revealed that he has decided to step down as France coach after failing to find a solution to the issues regarding management of the French team with the federation.
“During our discussions on June 28, we were unable to find common ground on the management of the French team for the next two seasons,”
“Under these conditions and, after reflecting on the matter, I could not but confirm to him(Noel Le Graet), on this day Saturday June 30, my decision not to ask for my contract to be renewed by the FFF.”
FFF has confirmed that Blanc has decided to leave and acknowledged his work with the national side.
“Within the period provided for reflection; Laurent Blanc, on Saturday contacted the President of the FFF, Noel Le Graet, to indicate his decision not to seek the renewal of his contract of national coach.” FFF stated on official website.
Laurent Blanc has an excess of coaching experience and with his profile and reputation, he would be an attractive prospect for any national side or club.
English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspurs are keen to add Blanc as their new manager and have publicly shown their interest in the former Bordeaux coach.
