Though Les Bleus gave a good offensive performance in the last warmup game for Euro 2012, the central axis of the national team still shows signs of weakness every now and then which could prove costly
This morning, following France’s 4-0 thumping of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Estonia-c2894 in their final warmup game for Euro 2012, French media commended the team for its performance.
L’Equipe was convince with Laurent Blanc’s side’s performance while Le Parisien even went as far as suggesting that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 on June 11, 2012.
However, these observations are not shared by manager Laurent Blanc who feels that the team is still not at 100%. The former defender of the national side, like many observers, is still far from convinced with the defensive display of Adil Rami and Philippe
Mexes.
While talking to the media, Blanc said that the main objective of the game against Estonia was to bring more consistency to the side. Though he was satisfied with the overall game, Blanc feels that the defensive display was less satisfying.
Blanc revealed that at half-time, he told the defenders that they need to be dominating games such as the one they are playing.
“In all honesty, what bothers me is that we started putting us in trouble ourselves. But in football, whether you are a midfielder or a striker, the key is to play simple. We did not do that in the first half. It was better in the second half even if the
opponent did not pose a lot of problems.”
In the last few friendly games, both Rami and Mexes have shown tendencies to make an error or two every now and then. Furthermore, modest Estonians were able to manhandle Rami who is rarely bossed around his area.
The question is whether the duo will be able to contain someone like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029.
Asked after the game, the AC Milan defender did not give any hint of being worried about his performance.
“These small teams, they always have quick attackers. This (mistakes) may be due to fatigue. During this game, we ran a lot,” says Mexes.
