tie of the European championship.
Despite crashing out of the tournament in the knock-out stages, Laurent Koscielny believes that the young French side performed well and his team-mates should be proud of themselves.
The 26-year-old said that France were an inexperienced side and the way they performed in the tournament should not be overlooked. Koscielny praised his team-mates following their 2-0 defeat against the reigning champions and stated that the future looks
bright for the young French side.
The Arsenal defender said that Spain are one of the best sides in the world and the match against La Roja was very tough for France. Koscielny said that his side created several opportunities but failed to capitalise on that and that cost them dearly in
the end.
"We have seen for some time that Spain play the most beautiful football and win trophies, so it was a tough match for us.”
"Spain have the skill to keep possession and make their opponent chase the ball, and this is very energy consuming.”
The defender laments his side’s failure to score goals and stated that had they been more accurate in their finishing, Les Bleus would have posed a lot of trouble for their opponents.
The 26-year-old stated that despite their early end to the tournament, France are leaving with their heads held high.
“We could have scored if we had been more accurate in terms of technique, but we are, nonetheless, leaving with our heads held high.”
