Laurentiis content with the performance against Catania and looking forward to Bayern Munich game
Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is happy with his team’s performance against Catania despite the defeat.
The Neapolitan suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Vincenzo Montella’s men at the Stadio Angelo Massimo on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Star striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955, had put his team in front with a delightful finish in the opening
minute of the match but the host’s fought back to register a win.
Despite losing the pace in Scudetto hunt, Laurentiis is delighted with his team’s performances and has praised the players and the manager, Walter Mazzarri. Midfielder, Mario http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santana-c32502, was shown a red card just before the
half-time whistle and the sending off had a huge impact on the result of the match.
However, the Partenopei chief has fully backed the former Argentine international and believes that he could do nothing as he was not playing in his regular position. Mazzarri rested the influential midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Walter-Gargano-c36598,
for the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against German giants, Bayern Munich.
The Chief praised his team’s performances and admitted that they played a great game despite being a man down.
While talking to the reporters, Laurentiis said, “I think Santana did what he could in a position that was not his own, as the midfield felt Walter Gargano’s absence. Even with a man down, the team played well against Catania.
My lads and Walter Mazzarri deserved 10 out of 10.”
The 62-year-old has urged his team to forget the result against Catania and they must shift their focus to the game against Bayern Munich.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 will travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Jupp Heynckes’s side in the group stage encounter of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011.
Laurentiis is predicting a tough game for his side and admitted that they will face a huge test due to injury crisis.
“Bayern are extremely strong and we will be missing a few players, but we’ll go there with our heads held high. It will also be a nice opportunity to look at the Allianz Arena.” added the Italian
Napoli are placed second in the Group A of the Champions League and a win in this game would do a world of good to their chances of qualifying for the next round.
