Laurentiis over the moon after the result against Manchester City: UCL news
Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has hailed the performance of his side in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
The Azzurri put up a fighting display in their return to the UEFA Champions League against the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. At one point the Italian side was on its way to get all three points
from the game, when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003.
The Napoli chief feared that his team could struggle against City and feels that a draw is like a victory for his team. Laurentiis claimed that despite a few errors his team played brilliantly and showed their real class.
The 62-year-old added that Manchester City’s form in the Premier League this season forced him to think that his team could struggle in the game. The chief is happy that his team conceded the goal because it would not make them
complacent and will make them learn from their mistakes.
Talking to the reporters Laurentiis said, “We earned a point and can be content with that, as a point in Manchester is like a victory. People talked about City as if they were the second top team in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, declaring the Premier
League title is just a battle with Manchester United, so we came here convinced we’d struggle more.”
“This performance, with a few errors that cost us the equaliser, was far stronger than many expected. I am almost glad we did concede that goal, as it will give us time to think things over and not get convinced we’re too perfect.”
The Partenopei President has called for a rule change on stadium restructuring and believes that the current set of laws is restricting him in the redevelopment of Stadio San Paolo.
The Azzurri will play their next European game at home to Villarreal later this month but before that they will host Italian Champions, A.C Milan, in a league game this weekend.
