Lavender in cooking?

I just read an answer on another question about lavander, and someone said they use it in cooking. How interesting! I didn't know about this, what does it taste like (ok I know you can't really describe a taste) but is it like a sweet or spicy? What kind of cooking, baking sweets or used to flavor other dishes?

  1. Believe it or not it tastes like lavender. I mean the smell.

Lavender shortbread is a bit of speciality in the area I live

in and we all have it with tea. It is simply a couple of teaspoons of chopped lavender flowers (which would not be

sprayed or anything like that) add to the flour and then

mixed into the rest of the ingredients. We also use it in

our tea. add lavender flowers to your tea when brewing. It has a lovely aroma and taste.

  2. Ask your question in Food & drink section there are lots of people that will be able to help you.

  3. Cookies, marinades, cheesecakes, salad dressings, espresso, Lavender can flavor all kinds of things.  The English Lavenders (or angustifolias) are the best for culinary use.

I love Lavender lemonade, this would be a good recipe to get an idea for what Lavender tastes like: http://www.ehow.com/how_2313502_refreshi...
