Lavezzi rues missed chances against Bayern Munich, looking forward to Juventus clash: Serie A news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073, is ruing his team’s first-half performance against Bayern Munich.
Walter Mazzarri’s men suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of German giants at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2011. The host’s scored three goals in the first half courtesy Mario Gomez. Federico Fernandez
led the comeback of his side with a goal just before the half-time and one in the second half. However, the Italian side fell short and slumped to their first defeat of the campaign.
Gomez scored the hat-trick in space of 25 minutes and Lavezzi believes that no team can afford to make this mistake against a top team like Bayern Munich. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/San-Lorenzo-c40436 star is ruing the missed chances and believes that
the result could have been different had they taken their chances.
“We started the game well, but you can’t just give 15 minutes to a team like Bayern. We all saw what happened. I liked playing as a centre-forward and we began with great character, but couldn’t finish off our chances. If we had,
then it would have been a very different game.”
On the other hand, Napoli’s closest group rivals, Manchester City cruised to an emphatic 3-0 win over Villarreal and over took the Partenopei side on the 2nd position in the Group A. The Argentine international is upbeat
of his team’s chances of qualifying to the next round and believes that their next European game against Manchester City will decide that.
However, Lavezzi has urged his teammates to remain focused on the game against Serie A league leaders, Juventus, at the weekend.
“We are certainly still fighting to qualify and are in the race with Manchester City, but also have to focus now on Sunday and a very important Serie A game for us against Juventus. We are a little tired, but fixtures like this
fire you up.”
The Azzurri will host Antonio Conte’s men in a crunch Serie A encounter at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday, November 6th, 2011. Napoli are currently placed 5th in the league table and are five points behind
the Old Lady.
