Lavezzi wants to score more goals and eyeing three points against Villarreal: Serie A news
Napoli striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073, has insisted that he needs to score more goals to make his performances count.
Lavezzi is desperate to score his first Champions League goal in the game against Villarreal at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. The Argentinean had a lovely game against Manchester City two weeks back and
contributed an assist to Edinson Cavani’s goal before limping off the field though an ankle injury.
The former Genoa star has been criticized in the past for not scoring a lot of goals despite contributing immensely for the team. The striker realizes it and believes that he needs to score more goals to speak for his performances.
However, he insisted that at the end of the day he is content with his performances if his team wins whether he scores or not.
Lavezzi said, “I haven’t netted at the San Paolo in a long time. I am a striker and I have to score more goals. I do criticise myself a lot, but always try to be useful to the team.”
Napoli and Villarreal met in the knockout round of the UEFA Europa League last season and the Spanish side emerged victorious in that contest. Lavezzi is not eyeing revenge and is just looking to secure three points which could
help his side in qualifying to the next round.
“It is not a chance for revenge, as this is a game where the three points could help us get through to the next round. This is all that we want. It’s a new experience for us, though we are aware that we can do well in this competition.
It’s wonderful to think these games are seen all over the world.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 have had a decent start to the 2011/12 Serie A season and are placed on the 4th spot on the league table. The Partenopei side defeated Italian Champions, A.C Milan, 3-1 in a league game recently and Lavezzi has
urged his team-mates to repeat the same performance in the Champions League too.
