Lavrans Solli and Sara Nordenstam win in Drammen: Day two – Norway Long Course Championships
Day two of the 2011 Norway Long Course Nationals saw the entertaining performances of Lavrans Solli and Sara Nordenstam in their respective events in Drammen, Norway, on Sunday, July 10.
Lavrans Solli nabbed the Men’s 200m back-stroke race, while Gard Kvale won the Men’s 100m freestyle crown. Sara Nordenstam grabbed the Women’s 200m butterfly and Heidi Vainio Gjoen snared the Women’s 100m back-stroke meet. Oscar Slaatmo clinched the Men’s
1500m freestyle title.
Solli secured victory in the Men’s 200m back-stroke event with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 04.91 seconds. Marco Aldabe Bomstad wound up second in 2 minutes and 08.15 seconds, while Eirik Ravnan rounded out the top three in 2 minutes and 09.55 seconds.
The Men’s 100m freestyle crown was snagged by Gard Kvale in 51.54 seconds. Bjarte Ravndal earned silver in 51.89 seconds, while Oystein Hetland grabbed bronze in a time of 52.53 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 200m butterfly event was taken over by Sara Nordenstam in 2 minutes and 14.45 seconds, whereas, Line Lovberg earned second place honours in 2 minutes and 18.80 seconds. The third place went to Victoria Rung in 2 minutes and 19.09
seconds.
In the Women’s 100m back-stroke, Heidi Vainio Gjoen hit the wall in 1 minute and 05.57 seconds to win the meet, while Christine Pedersen wound up second in 1 minute and 06.69 seconds. The third place went to Oda Marie Siljan in 1 minute and 06.97 seconds.
Oscar Slaatmo captured the Men's 1500m freestyle race in 16 minutes and 18.03 seconds. Henrik Christiansen wound up second in 16 minutes and 20.95 seconds, while Morten Bordervich rounded out the top three in 16 minutes and 28.25 seconds.
Earlier, Aleksander Hetland won the Men’s 50m butterfly finals with a time of 24.49 seconds. Cecilie Johannessen secured the Women’s 50m freestyle title in 25.96 seconds, while she also nabbed the Women’s 800m freestyle crown in 8 minutes and 54.08 seconds.
Additionally, Alexander Dale Oen snatched the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race in 2 minutes and 12.76 seconds.
