Law admission dilemna?

My dilemna is that I am not sure how the job market is for lawyers in Canada espeically for International students. The tuition is quite high at the same time. Any amount of job search hunt doesnt seem like the right way to find answers at the moment?

Should I rather concentrate on the US universities even if it means waiting another year? SInce I have been admitted to U of Calgary for this fall.

I want to get out of South Africa. People have discourging things to say about the US job market for International students. I dont know where to look for answers. My Lsat score is 158. But I already have an L.LB from University of Pretoria. Any advise would be great.

Thanks

  1. the profession of being a lawyer is misleading.  most only think of the lawyer they need when they are charged with a crime and need help in court.  BUT there are many other lawyers out there.  immigration lawyers, corporate, real estate, criminal, and probably some more.

although the schools will teach more about the laws of the country where the school is located, this could help with international law, or corporate law.  the law in itself, while at school, is NOT the most important part.  it is how you find, research, and present your findings to the professor using the law as was written to argue your case, whether criminal or corporate.  think of those that have studied in one country only to work in another.  it will be difficult but with a good assistant, you could work wonders.

so go to school in calgary so you don't lose time.  worry about employment after you get out of classes.
