Question:

Law help. citation issued to me for loud music?

i live in indiana. i was pulled over cause my music was too loud. the cop said he wasn't going to fine me just write a citation. it says i have to go to court, but i'm going to call the court clerk soon to see if i can get around having to appear. has anyone else been in this situation and share what happened thanks :-)

  2. Hello Sean. It sounds like the officer gave you an infraction rather than a misdemeanor, which is far better. An infraction does not go on any record as a criminal conviction ( which a misdemeanor would).

    If this is an infraction, a court appearance would be mandatory however. It will be a fine only. To make sure, you can call the Clerk of Courts to verify (as you said in your question).

    One word of advice. If this is a mandatory appearance as an infraction and you do not show up, it will be upgraded to a misdemeanor and a warrent of arrest will be issued.
