  1. He's wanting to know:

    Why a society has law?

Why does a society perpetuate law?  Does it help it or hurt it.

How is law shaped by the society?

How does  a society/culture's history influence the type of law it has?

  2. Did you type it like its written?

Im not sure exactly what the question is, but I'll throw some stuff out there and hope it helps.

Criminology is the study of crime and criminals. ("ology" simply means 'the study of')

Theoretical criminology is when criminologists develop a theory of why criminals commit crime, or why they may be predisposed to commit crime. "If people are raped by the easter bunny, they will shoot up a mall on easter."

and the Sociology of Law...Im guessing means how different societies have different laws. For example, in the US it is illegal to beat your wife for showing some skin. However in Iraq you can kill you wife for showing any skin and its legal.

You may have just rolled your eyes and said "duh" to this answer, but hey, its yahoo.

    Hope that helped.

  3. It sounds like you are being asked to discuss sociology of law in relation to criminology.

Criminology is simply the study of crime and the factors leading and pertaining to it’s phenomena, being either of an individual or social nature. This encapsulates areas ranging from the criminal justice system itself (the police, courts, probation, prisons and parole) right through to the existence of laws, economics, psychology, politics, medicine and sociology. But primarily, criminologists are concerned with the causes of criminal actions, the individuals who initiated them and their reasoning, which vary dramatically between each case (why does one person rob a store with a gun and take human life, while another just shop lifts?).

It is hard to say because I don't know the full context of the question.  Think about the social side of criminology, why people do what they do

Crimes are social constructions. Controversy concerning the behaviors so labeled—which to include or exclude, and how to define the former—and the circumstances under which invocation of the criminal law is warranted, change in response to legal and social changes. Historically, such controversies have taken many turns, from the status of witches to substance use and abuse (and efforts to enforce statutes related to them); from criteria of citizenship to the legal standing of corporations and other organizations; from "victimless" crimes and common "street crimes" to international commerce and terrorism. Here, only a brief sampling from the vast literature of research and debate addressing such issues is possible.
