  2. yes

  3. Dear lynn,

There is a Price Control Act in existence in the Singapore Statutes. This is currently Chapter 244 (1985) of the Singapore Statutes.

Besides this Act, there are potentially other Acts that may be of interest to you, as Singapore do exercise some regulation of the pricing of various utilities and businesses, for example:

Public Utilities Act (covering Water and Waste Management), Gas Act (covering Gas supply), Electricity Act (covering electricity supply).

There is also a District Cooling Act (an interesting act but it provides for the catering of air-cooling services within communities).

There are also 2 Authorities involve in pricing determination of services, they are covered by the following acts:

Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore Act (covering provisions of telecommunications and broadcasting fees)

    and

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Act (covering port and harbour fees).

There are 2 more acts that may be of interest and these being the:

Competition Act (which allows for the government to step in if some companies start to collude and try to price their competitors out of the market) and

Countervailing and Antidumping Duties Act (which covers instances whereby people price things to try to achieve dumping actions).

For more information about the acts and the citations of relevant sections therein, please see details provided in the link below:

  4. I don't think there are any pricing guideline in sg. As there are too many different over-head or operating cost, even for same type of trade.

If you come across any unethical sales, don't buy from them.

If refused to go, ORDER THEM TO LEAVE. You have all the rights or pretend to call police.

If you already brought, not to worried. You are protect by Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) act. Go to this web site

    www.case.org.sg to know more.

Remember, never give unethical business people any chance.

    They will harm more people.

  5. no
