how effective is trail by jury consider any alternitives and suggestions

  1. Define effective.

    If effective means that everytime someone is guilty they go to jail, then it would be much more effective to have a sadistic judge make all of the rulings.

    If effective means that innocent men do not get charged then never charging anyone would be effective.

    Unfortunately effective is a bit of both and as of yet we have not found a better way to do things.


  2. Trial by Jury is a method first invented by the English back in the Middle Ages.  It is the method most dear to the hearts of the English Speaking peoples - the Brits, the Americans, Canadians, and the mob down-under the Oz and Kiwis etc.

    Not sure just how far widespread the notion of trial by jury goes in this world but probably other non-English speaking countries have it too.

  3. No system of trial will ever be fool proof. But if i was an Innocent man on trial, i would prefer to be tried by the system we use now.
