No, it's not "lawful".  What you need to do, is find him in a solitary place, don't let him see you coming, and just beat the **** out of him, put him in the hospital.  Keep doing every time he says something about your wife.  Again, though don't let him know it's you beating the c**p out of him.  You will get satisfaction, and good healthy exercise!
