My old craftsman (early 90's) tractor died on my ladyfriend when she was mowing. she said it was like she ran out of gas but when she checked the tank it had enough in it. When she tried cranking it to start it the ground wire got hot and later she found it loose. When she went to tighten the bolt it burnt her finger so we tightened it down today then tried starting it again and still nothing but the positive wire is now getting hot! it made a faint whinning noise a few times. I tried jump starting w/ my car but notta! I replaced the battery last year but when I checked the oil today it was just under the add line.....any ideas or then just replacing it?

  1. a faint whining noise tells me it has to do with battery bad connections bad battery bad wire bad something

  2. Have you checked your starter solenoid(for starting problem not dieing problem)?.Have you checked your coil kill lead to make sure it isn't gnd.ed.? Is your starter engaging(whine)? Is your starter even turning? In short have you tested anything?
