Decided to give hubby a break, and cut the lawn while he was at work(noble idea, right?) Gassed up the mower, TRIED starting it...(weakling) When hubby got home asked him to start it up for me...starts but sputters out. Turns out, i used the 2cycle can, NOT the gas can...have i ruined the mower?

  1. No.  Empty the tank.  You can just turn the mower upside down.  Fill with regular gas, prime it a few times, hold down lever while you pull start.  This may take a couple of times.  If someone helps you get it started, you can tie down the bar so it won't stall.  Be careful with kid though because this is over riding the safety.  I would say bring it to a repair guy, but they are a rip off, and if you find it hard to start, you will not be able to carry it to and from the car.  Good luck.

  2. I doubt it.  If it was the other way around, maybe.  Drain the mixed gas out and replace it with fresh gas.  You may have fouled the plug by weakly pulling the start cord.  Pull the plug and let it air dry for a few minutes, reinstall and try again to start it.

I used to burn excess two cycle mixed gas in my regular mower all the time when it got a bit old.
