Lawnmower oil for a MTD Model Series 410???

Question

I ran low on oil then put some 5w 30 oil inside the lawnmower.

either you spill some or you have run it too low and burn it up.... you can use about any kind of oil and it wouldnt make it smoke.....could be... the oil screen / pvc is on the side of motor kind of like a pvc on a car when it gets plug it smokes but im guessing you ran it too long with out oil
