Lawrie and Hanson to play in the European Masters
The two legends of the golf world, Paul Lawrie and Peter Hanson have confirmed that they will play in the upcoming OMEGA European Masters.
European Masters is an important stop on the European Tour and attracts only the best talent of the golf world. It is considered a tough tournament where top-notch players compete for the top prize.
The venue is the Crans Sur Sierre in Switzerland. European Masters has been held in this place since 1939. The course is among the most beautiful in the world and offers splendid views of the Alps.
On the downrange of the course is the scenic Rhone Valley, another beautiful sight that complements the view of the Alps.
However, this year the focus is not on the European Masters. Ryder Cup is the most anticipated tournament of this year and is the centre of the entire buzz.
The announcement of the selection for the Ryder Cup generated tremendous interest in the golf world. Many tournaments lost coverage to the press conference, announcing the entry list of the event.
Both Lawrie and Hanson will play in the prestigious Ryder Cup. These players are in top form and, with confidence garnered out of recent accomplishments, they are well prepared for the tough matches of the Ryder Cup.
Lawrie has just finished the Johnnie Walker Championship in the top most position. The final round turned exciting near the end and Lawrie won after some tough scrapes. He is currently on a break to condition himself for the cold conditions of Switzerland.
Peter Hanson has been going strong this year. In the recent PGA Championship, he posted his second top-10 finish of the season. A top-ten place in a major always instills confidence and it is no wonder that Hanson is rearing to go for the Ryder Cup.
The defending champion of the European Masters is Thomas Bjorn. He is not in his best form right now and might not be able to defend his title.
His task would be made especially difficult in the presence of top rated players like Peter Hanson and Paul Lawrie.
