Question:

Laws on climbing roofs in Florida??

So, right by my high school there's a small plaza, and there's a way to get up onto the roof there, which is pretty sweet. We aren't the first to figure this; there's a makeshift ladder to get up, and there's lots of graffiti up there. Anyway, we'd really like to kind of make it a little hangout place, but I was curious as to the Florida Laws on this matter?

Basically, if someone sees us on the roof of this plaza, and calls the police, what's the worst that they could do, provided we don't vandalize or break anything? Is it considered trespassing?

  1. Trespassing private property.  Most likely its a misdemeanor.

  2. In public places such as that plaza there are usually restricted areas, like kitchens, rooftops, etc. Police technically can't charge you with that provided it's out of ignorance and they haven't given you a warning before. If there's no sign that says it's a restricted area then your prolly safe, but i wouldn't suggest making it widely known- since you could still get caught.

  3. there is none just go for it ^_^

  4. At MINIMUM you would be trespassing in ANY state.  if they believe you are responsible for the graffiti, they can charge you with vandalism.

  5. yes, it is definately tresspassing. perhaps you could get persmission from the person who owns the building though.

  6. I don't know

  7. They would burn you at the stake.

  8. That's rediculous. They're not gonna penalize you because you were just a couple kids hanging out on the roof. If anything they'll let you off with a warning, if they don't want you there, just cuz you're kids. Go for it! I would except I live up north lol.

  9. yeah its trespassing, if you don't know the person that the building belongs too its considered trespassing.

  10. i dont know i live in a diff state
