Laws on doctors notes for work?

My boss seems to think there is no such law. I though there was. Is there a law saying if you have a doctors note that your employer cannot force you to come? If so where can I find it?

No one can force you to work because president lincoln freed the slaves.  He can, however, decline future employment because you were not available, or for any other reason.  If the employer failed to pay you but instead showed you a note from his accountant saying he was simply unable to pay, would you continue working?

For liability reasons.
